Kingman Kut-Ups

The past couple of months have been busy for the Kut-Ups.  We celebrated Mike Wilder’s retirement as our club caller on March 9th.  Many old and new friends were there to celebrate his 14 years calling for the club by roasting him.  This spring we graduated 4 new dancers with our Mainstream BLAST classes taught by Darrell Newell.
We are excited about Darrell Newell becoming our new club caller.  Darrell has been a caller for many years.  He often shares the stage with his lifelong partner, Carolyn Cook, who is a well known round dance cuer.  They jointly own MonDiki, a dance clothing business in Lake Havasu.
A new dance schedule was presented by club president, Sharon Peters at our April 13th meeting.  The schedule includes dances throughout the summer, and we have added some dance demos and mainstream workshops.  We are hopeful many of the newly graduated dancers from Tri-State and London Bridge would attend these workshops this summer to keep up on their dance skills while their clubs are dark.  Our Mainstream BLAST lessons will be held on week-ends in September with Darrell Newell teaching.  With the demos we are doing this summer we hope to pick up a few local people who would enjoy square dancing with “fun set to music”.
